ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a multi-disciplinary artist and bodyworker who works from a studio, in a field, in Pembrokeshire. My art studio and my body-work practice are both located in opposite sides of our field so i physically move my body through the landscape here to work in either practice space. There is an ebb and flow between the two disciplines, so it's a natural process that they  merge.

I use a sense of layering, overlapping, entwining either of nature, landscape, body to illustrate sensory input in all its guises from distant stars to nucleus of cells, geology to bone marrow, buds to embryos. I enjoy using an unexpected combination of imagery and materials to explore the idea of being human if the boundary of a skin was abandoned. Through imagery and objects, i suggest the shedding of this delicate, permeable, watery, gauze like layer that contains our soft tissue mass, organs and fluids so there is no longer a container of “me”. I am of the massive mass of nature. The concept of “I” or “me” disappears as I leak, ooze, flow out of a form. There is no “becoming” nature or being “connected” to it, as nature is me.

I am nature.
